Landscaper of the Year Residential Construction

TLA Member:  Fifth Season Landscapes
Project:
Northbridge

The Northbridge project demonstrates the very highest of creative and practical thinking combined to create an alluring outdoor space of timeless beauty.   A very steep slope represented a significant challenge, however, the use of crisp floating concrete steps actually switched the slope into a feature by creating a beautiful transition from indoor to outdoor with a stunning outlook. The garden boasts both a grassed area and a renovated pool area all couched in a creative planting palette, complemented by a selection of materials that would suit all tastes and styles.   The judges deemed this garden to be a true work of art so, congratulations again to Fifth Season Landscapes for a marvellous result.

Landscaper of the Year Residential Design

TLA Member: Adam Robinson Design
Project: Sanctuary House

Sanctuary House is a Mediterranean respite in the heart of Paddington. Every square inch of this property has been carefully considered which is evident when you are in the property and from the imagery. The project was a collaboration with Jason Gibney Workshop, ARD and Ivory Gardens.  This is a fantastic project and excellent result.  The level of design detail in the materials selection combined with excellent use of plants (even on the balconies) and good styling has really brought this project together. I would be delighted to be the client. Well done.

Landscaper of the Year Residential Maintenance

TLA Member: Green Revolution Gardens
Project: Escarpment Gardens

Green Revolution Gardens have been responsible for the maintenance of the lovely Escarpment Garden since 2016. The judges found that the very thoughtful and professional practices they use are clearly evident in the results. The team are definitely achieving bang for buck considering the relative low 8 hours devoted to the garden each week and the judges found it refreshing to see the extensive planting variety used in the space. An excellent attention to detail is obvious, especially given the scale of the property.  An outstanding balance between the natural environment and the need for pest and disease management was also very well achieved through the use of limited target applications.

Landscaper of the Year Commercial & Civil Construction

TLA Member: GJ’s Landscapes Pty Ltd
Project: Macquarie University Central Precinct

The Macquarie University Central Courtyard Precinct centrepiece is the tree-lined Central Courtyard. Coupled with a series of smaller courtyards, a water feature, and a restored natural creek system the space provides users with a range of external spaces that work together to form a green heart for the campus. This wonderful natural environment has been enhanced with a number of hardscape amenities and comforts that are practical for the space.  The judges praised the high quality of the design and the execution and were very impressed with the physical and visual links from the courtyards to the Mars Creek landscape. A brilliant project that the judges were looking forward to seeing mature.  Well done to GJ’s Landscapes on this new landscape that serves for functional and symbolic gatherings, as well as for relaxation and being enveloped in nature. A project very in-keeping with the remainder of the university grounds.

Landscaper of the Year Commercial Maintenance

TLA Member: Green Options
Project: GIO Stadium

Part of Canberra’s way of life. Home of the Canberra Raiders, ACT Brumbies and just in the last 12-months, host of the NRL Women’s State-of-Origin, Matilda’s vs NZ A-League, and various community events including Stadium Golf. GIO Stadium is where the art of turf curation can be seen around the world.  Judges said simply that Green Options should be congratulated on demonstrating the very epitome of best practice maintenance techniques in caring for this venue. The documentation and attention to detail are outstanding and second to none. Green Options clearly grasp the importance of delivering the correct science of horticulture for both dicots and monocots and the results are pure excellence. The use of ready-to-go replacement turf with a matching soil profile is highly commendable. Effective strategies have also been used for elements of the landscaping beyond caring for the turf.
