Macquarie GIO Stadium

Part of Canberra’s way of life. Home of the Canberra Raiders, ACT Brumbies and just in the last 12-months, host of the NRL Women’s State-of-Origin, Matilda’s vs NZ A-League, and various community events including Stadium Golf. GIO Stadium is where the art of turf curation can be seen around the world.  Judges said simply that Green Options should be congratulated on demonstrating the very epitome of best practice maintenance techniques in caring for this venue. The documentation and attention to detail are outstanding and second to none. Green Options clearly grasp the importance of delivering the correct science of horticulture for both dicots and monocots and the results are pure excellence. The use of ready-to-go replacement turf with a matching soil profile is highly commendable. Effective strategies have also been used for elements of the landscaping beyond caring for the turf.

Pymble Ladies College

All’ Ultimo Lavoro is Pymble Ladies College’s motto, meaning “Strive for the highest”. This is translated into the entire Pymble Community, including the beautiful campus grounds. Meticulously maintained by a truly dedicated horticultural team  The judges for this category were impressed by the delivery of a very high standard of horticulture, service and communication, as well as with the provision of a very detailed maintenance program. They noted the effective and responsible approach to soil preparation, as well as the outstanding approach to water usage. The vegetable gardens and compost are great initiatives and the judges felt that the client’s own approaches to communication, environmentally sustainable practices and adopting the use of home-grown vegetables in the kitchen also deserved applause. This is a great example of the things that can be achieved when client and contractor work well together.

Catalyst Business Park

Catalyst Business Park provides a colourful, aesthetically pleasing greenspace to its customers and visitors through flowering trees, shrubs and well-manicured lawns onsite. The judges found Catalyst business park to be excellently presented with a particularly high finish to the extensive hedge rows and mass plantings. They were also impressed by the excellent documentation and communication between the client and contractor which would be especially beneficial to new staff and for consistency in the care regime. The judges were heartened to see such good irrigation water usage, as well as the reduced use of chemicals with the implementation of organic chemicals, as well as less use of battery tools. They also praised the efforts and explanations of the use of steam cleaning for moss control.
