Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) are excited to announce that they are running a display garden competition for landscape students this year, which once completed, will form part of this year’s Floriade display. The competition is being hosted in collaboration with Events ACT, Transport Canberra City Services and with the mentoring support of several volunteer landscape businesses.
Students will design and build a garden in keeping with this year’s Floriade theme; “Floral Wonderland”, utilising beauty, colour, and vibrancy, to celebrate all things flowers, food, and gardens. The design will draw inspiration from the idea of transformation and will stimulate childlike curiosity in visitors to the garden, inspiring their imagination and allowing them to experience their own sense of wonderland.
The students will partner with a mentor from some of Canberra’s most prominent local landscape businesses, who will assist in the construction of the students’ design, bringing it to life. Construction of the gardens will commence in late August through to early September and will be on display from the 16 September to 15 October. There will be two streams of judging, by a professional judging panel and the “People’s Choice”, as voted by visitors to Floriade.
The competition is largely made possible by volunteers and will require donations of materials to assist in bringing the gardens to fruition.
If your business can assist with landscape supplies please contact; Jarrod Poole MD of Landculture, and volunteer mentor j.poole@landculture.com.au or 0411 535 773 for more information.
