This project began with a sense of disappointment — the existing pond sat sunken below ground level, with sloped inward edges and insufficient water volume. The result felt like an empty bathtub rather than a vibrant lake. Our task was to reimagine this space and give it new life.
We redesigned the pond, expanding its surface area and transforming it into a natural swimming lake with thoughtfully designed entry points: shallow zones for gentle access, deeper areas for diving, and subtly contoured sections that integrate seamlessly with natural stone and surrounding grasses. These shallow zones also serve a visual purpose — adding dynamic shape and beauty to the shoreline.
A key feature is the grotto waterfall, designed not only to enhance the view from the lakeside pavilion but also to invite interaction. Visitors can step inside the grotto, touch the water from behind the curtain, and look out at the landscape through a moving veil of water. The mist system adds a magical atmosphere, cloaking the garden in soft vapor while gently watering the plants growing within the waterfall itself.
