The Landscape Association’s 2021 AGM will be held in conjunction with the presentation ‘International Trends for Australian Gardens’ by renowned landscaper, Michael Bates. We would love to see you there and remember the first 20 member companies who register and attend the event will receive a complimentary copy of Michael’s book The New Australian Garden.

The Annual General Meeting of Members

The Landscape Association’s 2021 AGM will once again be held online via Zoom on Tuesday, 14 September 2021 at 5:30pm.

Apart from being virtual, all other aspects of the AGM will remain the same and it would be great to see as many members as possible joining in.  The AGM is an opportunity for members to ask questions of the Board and Senior Management regarding the management of TLA and its activities.

We look forward to having you join us at the AGM and encourage you to contact us should you have any questions.

Michael Bates Presents: International Trends for Australian Gardens

Over the last 15 years, Michael Bates has travelled the world on professional garden study tours each year, connecting with the best designers in every country he visits.  This experience has informed his book, The New Australian Garden, a folio of Michael’s work which explores how Australian garden culture has evolved to become outward-looking, drawing on design inspiration from around the world.

It has also inspired some of Michael’s most incredible gardens, which draw inspiration both from celebrated gardens overseas and favourite personal travel memories of the garden owners.

This presentation explores those international inspirations, and how they can be applied to Australian spaces by Michael and the Bates team.

About Michael Bates

Bates has been a landscaper for 36 years and in business for 26 years. In this time, he has built over 1300 gardens, and collaborated with Australia’s leading designers. These days, on more than half of the gardens that Bates Landscape creates, Michael leads the design process with collaborators selected to be the right fit for each job.

What sets Michael Bates apart is his process. Information-flow equals workflow, and workflow determines how efficiently the Bates team can build gardens, enabling them to take advantage of opportunities which emerge during the process. This fresh way of operating suits all parties involved and produces durable visual value.
