After last year’s COVID enforced hiatus, the much-anticipated Landscape Excellence Awards are back in 2021.

If you haven’t already started your entries, now is the time to get cracking! The weather is still great for taking photographs and video and there are still a few months to fill in the entry forms and maximise the information you provide to the judges.

The benefits of entering the Awards are something you really need to experience for yourself to appreciate. Not only does entry lift the profile of your business, it can directly lead to more clients and jobs. It is also a wonderful way to lift the morale of your staff who appreciate the confidence and pride you have in their work.

The 2021 Landscape Excellence Awards feature Awards in the following categories:

  • Residential Construction
  • Residential Design
  • Residential Maintenance
  • Commercial and Civil Construction
  • Commercial Maintenance
  • Apprentice of the Year: Parks and Gardens
  • Apprentice of the Year: Construction

In this article, we will highlight both the Residential Construction and Residential Design Award Categories. In following articles, we will address the other categories in more detail, so watch this space.

Residential Construction

The 2021 Landscape Excellence Awards feature 5 Residential Construction Award categories:

• Residential Construction: Up to $50,000
• Residential Construction: $50,000 to $100,000
• Residential Construction: $100,000 to $150,000
• Residential Construction: $150,000 to $350,000
• Residential Construction: Over $350,000

This category is for landscape construction involved with a single unit dwelling on one or more combined elements of land. This category also includes pool surrounds and landscape features such as brick, stone or timber retaining walls, feature or decorative paving, timber constructions including gazebos, pergolas etc, feature plantings, brick, stone or timber stairs, feature fences, screenings, water features, ponds, fountains etc, bridge/s and/or lighting.

Entries should include where applicable any references to the contractor’s skills and innovation in constructing an environment that has a beneficial impact on the local ecology such as rehabilitation of a site to return it to its natural state. Please also tell us, if applicable, if the construction has used second-hand or recycled/energy efficient materials and/or has addressed issues such as water retention and/or re-use. Has the construction used native fauna habitat and appropriate plant selection?

Residential Design

The 2021 Landscape Excellence Awards feature 3 Residential Design Award categories:

• Residential Design: Up to 80m square
• Residential Design: 80m2 to 200m square
• Residential Design: Over 200m square.

This category is for landscape design involved with a single dwelling unit on one or combined allotments of land. This category also includes pool surrounds, pools (in the context of the entire landscape) and landscape features such as brick, stone or timber retaining walls, feature/decorative, paving, timber stairs, feature fences, screenings, water features, ponds, fountains and structures etc, bridge/s and/or lighting.

Entries should include where applicable any references to innovation in designing an environment that has a beneficial impact on the local ecology such as rehabilitation of a site to return it to its natural state. The design includes the use of second-hand or recycled/ energy efficient materials and has addressed issues such as water retention and/or re-use, creation of native fauna habitat and appropriate plant selection. All contracts and Guides are purchased at the risk of those making the purchase.

TLA does not have access to the customer’s credit card number which is encrypted for security purposes. The credit card will be debited at the time of processing the payment. A tax invoice/receipt will be automatically generated and emailed to the customer.

Orders are ordinarily dispatched by Australia Post, Express Post, within seven working days. Five days should be allowed for delivery. This timeframe is indicative only. Every reasonable effort will be made to notify the customer if a delay is expected.

Provided an order has not been dispatched, it may be cancelled in full or part by calling The Landscape Association on (02) 9630 4844. Returns are not accepted by The Landscape Association unless the customer has received an unordered or faulty item, or unless otherwise required under Australian legislation.

The Landscape Association reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time.
